Every figure above is a starting point in US dollars, based on two travellers unless stated otherwise, with planning and hosting included and international flights excluded. Two of the ten-night routes also carry a price for three, $6,400, on the Southern Route and on The South, Unstaged. Days reserved on their own run from $95 for a street-food walk in Marrakech to $320 for a day in the Atlas villages, and a private car with driver costs $220 a day. What moves the price is the house chosen, the season, the pace and the size of your party, in that order: spring and autumn are the most requested months, and therefore the tightest on the best addresses. If your budget does not match the level you have in mind, we say so in the first reply rather than propose a compromise. A journey this personal begins with a brief, not a blind checkout.
Agafay or the Sahara: which desert, and how far?
The Agafay is a stone desert under an hour from Marrakech; the Sahara dunes are about nine hours away by road and ask for three nights at least.

The choice is made on the time you have, not on budget. The Agafay has no dunes: mineral hills to the horizon, the Atlas behind them, and a private table set as the light drops around seven in the evening. One evening or one night: from $620 for two with dinner and transfers, or $180 for the dinner alone. The Sahara is the Erg Chebbi near Merzouga, reached by road through the Dadès and Todra gorges, or the Erg Chigaga, remoter, the last stretch by 4×4. Merzouga Express gives it three nights from $1,850, from Marrakech or from Fès, without driving the same road twice; Erg Chigaga takes four days from $2,900. We do not sell the Sahara as a day trip, and we do not describe the Agafay as sand. Many trips take both: the Agafay as a pause near Marrakech, the Sahara at the heart of the journey.
Where can we go, and how long are the roads?

Marrakech is the easiest first base: direct flights, the widest choice of riads, the Atlas and the Agafay within the hour. Essaouira and the Atlantic are about three hours west through argan country; Fès is older and quieter, best as a second city at the far end of the Imperial Route. The road south crosses the Tizi n'Tichka towards Aït Ben Haddou, the Dadès and the dunes, and the way back follows the Draâ so that no day repeats itself. Our rule on the road is written into every itinerary: no day longer than about six hours of driving, the longest ones broken by walks and lunch, and your driver on the road 20 minutes before every pickup. Where a flight saves a day, we say so: Errachidia to Marrakech is one hour in the air against a full day of road.
What do the trips we arranged actually look like?
Three recent briefs, kept anonymous, show how a route is built around a party rather than around a list of sights.
A family of four at Christmas, ten nights with one driver throughout: Marrakech, Christmas on the Atlantic at Essaouira, the kasbah road, a night in a heated tent in the Erg Chebbi, New Year facing the dunes, then Skoura and the Tichka pass home, with no day on the road longer than six hours. A couple walking in November, nine nights and six houses: the summit of Toubkal at 4,167 metres with a mountain guide, the Skoura palm grove and the Todra gorge on foot, two nights in the Erg Chebbi, and the evening flight from Errachidia so that no road is driven twice. A couple in August, ten nights from Casablanca to Essaouira by way of Marrakech and the Agafay, built around the table: some twenty lunches and dinners chosen one by one and booked in their names before they landed, with no drive longer than about three hours. Each of these began as a short message.
What we refuse to arrange
We do not arrange the Sahara as a day trip from Marrakech: nine hours of road each way leaves nothing of the desert, so we propose the Agafay instead, or three nights in the dunes. We do not sell fixed group tours, and we do not sell the stone of the Agafay as sand. We do not name a house before it is confirmed in writing in your name, and we take no commission on what we recommend, from a restaurant to a guide. We take no payment before you have read the quote. And when your dates or your budget do not fit the level you want, we say so in the first reply, rather than let you find out on arrival.
Questions we hear most
Are the prices per person?
No. Prices are for two travellers, planning and hosting included, unless stated: Marrakech Wellness is priced per person, at $1,400 for three days. Two of the ten-night routes also carry a price for three, $6,400. For a family or a larger group, the quote is rebuilt on the exact number of travellers and their ages.
How far ahead should we book?
From October to April, six to ten weeks gives the best choice of riads and camps; from May to September, two to three weeks is often enough. Spring, autumn and the winter holidays fill first. A late brief is still possible: we tell you honestly what remains rather than propose a disguised fallback.
Can we see the Sahara in a day from Marrakech?
No, and we do not arrange it. Roughly nine hours of road separate Marrakech from the Erg Chebbi, so a day trip is a day of road. The Agafay stone desert is under an hour away and answers a single evening from $620 for two; the dunes deserve three nights, from $1,850.
Do we need a private driver?
Not inside a medina, which is walked. Outside the city, yes: the Ourika valley is an hour away, Essaouira about three, the Sahara about nine, and the right driver knows when to leave and where to break. A private car with driver costs from $220 a day; on the journeys, the driver is included from landing to departure.
We already have flights and a riad. Can you build around them?
Yes. Many briefs arrive with flights booked and a riad chosen. We compose the drivers, guides, tables and days around what you have, and tell you plainly if something you booked deserves a second look. The quote lists only what we arrange, itemised, with nothing charged until you approve it.
How many days do we need?
Five to seven days suit a first private trip: Marrakech and one contrast, the Agafay or the Atlantic. Ten nights let you follow the kingdom properly, Marrakech, the Atlas, the Sahara, then Fès or Essaouira, without a day of more than six hours on the road. The honeymoon runs seven days; the four long routes run ten nights or ten days.
What happens if we have to cancel?
Experiences reserved online cancel free up to 72 hours before the start. Signature Journeys refund in full up to 45 days before departure, less any non-recoverable cost already committed with the houses, half between 45 and 21 days, and nothing within 21 days, with one change of dates without fees where the houses accept it. Bespoke routes follow their quote.
