When is the best time for a bespoke trip to Morocco?

Spring, March to May, and autumn, September to November, are the most comfortable across the country: mild days, cool evenings. They are also the tightest months at the best addresses — allow six to ten weeks. Summer and winter remain excellent, provided you change the itinerary rather than give it up.

Spring and autumn: why they are asked for

Because everything works at once: the medina can be walked without suffering, the desert slept in without shivering, the gardens are at their height. This is the window in which a full itinerary — Marrakech, the Atlas, the Sahara, then Fès or the coast — holds without compromise. It is also why the riads and camps go early.

Summer: move the rhythm, do not cancel

Inland is hot. We then set Marrakech and the desert around early mornings and late afternoons, and shift the centre of gravity to the Atlantic and the Atlas — Essaouira where the wind never drops, Taghazout and the coast, the valleys at altitude. A balloon flight is taken at dawn, while the air is still cool.

Winter: the season few people ask for

Bright and quiet, with snow on the High Atlas and cold nights in the desert — which we plan for in the kit and in the dinner hour at camp. The cities are less crowded and the best tables easier to get. It is the least contested window for a first private trip.

How far ahead should you book?

October to April, six to ten weeks is ideal. May to September, two to three weeks is often enough. A late request is still possible — we will tell you honestly what remains rather than offering a disguised fallback.

Does Ramadan change anything?

Restaurant and site hours shift, and the mood of the evenings changes — many find it the better version. We adapt the pace of the days and flag the dates before you fix yours.

Can you go to the desert year-round?

Yes, with different precautions by season: shade and shifted hours in summer, warm kit and an earlier dinner in winter. It is a question of preparation, not of a narrow window.
